Truvia *Review and Giveaway*

Thursday, June 17, 2010

My family loves sugar, practically everything we eat or drink has it in it!  I love to bake, so naturally I use sugar, and we love kool-aid, so again naturally we use sugar!  I was sent Truvia  to try, so I decided to use in replace of sugar!  My family liked it.  Although I thought it tasted better in cooking, and baking than in drinks.
Truvia sweetener is natural calorie-free sweetness.  It is made with ribiana, the best tasting part of the stevia leaf - sweetness from nature.  The stevia plant, is native to South America.  Dried stevia leaves are steeped in water, similar to making tea.  This unlocks the best tasting part of the leaf which is then purified to provide a calorie-free sweet taste.
My family liked Truvia, and most of the time didn't even realize it wasn't sugar!  Only when I put it in drinks was it noticeable.  And even then only me, and my fiance noticed, our daughter didn't even care!  I liked it a lot better for cooking, and baking!  But when put in drinks, was a little sweet for my taste, but delicious in brownies!  Overall I recommend Truvia for anyone that bakes, or likes sweet stuff!  My daughter never noticed it in any of her drinks, so it just depends on your tastes!  I want to share Celebrity Chef Sam Talbot's reciepe for blueberry mojito:
