Our local community college hosts a cooking show every year. In which they raise can foods for the local homeless shelter. Mom and I love going and it’s a great time for me to get out without the kids, and get some much needed girl time! I love all the free food samples (this year from Kroger and Wal-Mart, plus a few local stores), free samples, and prizes. Plus it’s great to give back to our community and to those less fortunate.
While we didn’t win any prizes this year, we did score some other great freebies! Such as, measuring cups, measuring spoons, tons of free pens, a spatula, loaded nachos from Kroger, Mt Dew a doughnut boneless BBQ chicken popcorn chicken and a cupcake from Wal-Mart, doughnuts from a local store, cookies from a local bakery, several season DVDs, and tons of other great stuff! Plus some great recipes that I can’t wait to try out!
Together mom and I donated 20 cans of food (which got us 3 entry tickets for prizes). For only $7 a ticket it was a great way to spend some time together and have a good time. I’m so blessed to have my mother, and to be able to go out have a great time together! What great activities do you and your mother enjoy doing together?
